Dot’s nature(點性) Being faithful in insignificant matters - being frugal, meticulous, effective and sincere |
The spirituality of a dot is the spirit that comes from the nature of a dot. The dot is the beginning and end of all figures and the starting point of all things in heaven and earth. The dot has the character of being used only for the benefit of others, of being completely selfless and of not imposing itself. Therefore, like the dot, the nature of a dot is to be “frugal, meticulous, effective, sincere and faithful over a little” in all circumstances. The nature of a dot is the origin of and basis for beginning the journey of Myeon-hyeong Mu-a and the positively necessary spirit in the whole process in the sense that there is no neglect in small things, and like the dot, keeps us awake even to the moments that are easy to pass over. |
Silence(沈默) Not without noise but without self - Self-restraint, sacrifice, abandonment, modesty |
Silence does not mean not speaking, but means the whole process of self-restraint in order to live life with God as my center, wholly according to God’s will, eliminating all evil thoughts and feelings in me that defy God by emptying myself. |
Dae-wol(對越) Face-to-face communion with God - becoming aware of God, accompanying God, together with God. |
Dae-wol is overcoming all distractions, idle thoughts and evil desires that God detests and living in face-to-face communion with Him, the Light. The life of Dae-wol and religious life is serving God who comes as this light and living. |
Wan-deok O-kye(The ‘Five Ways of Perfection’) |
1. Rejecting distractions and idle thoughts 2. Renouncing evil desires 3. Having a cheerful, peaceful and smiling countenance avoiding complaints and ill feelings in speech being proper, courteous, and natural in demeanor 4. Keeping the light of our conscience bright 5. Offering our freedom to God and following his holy will. |

Myeon-hyeong Mu-a |
‘Myeon-hyeong Mu-a’ is a combination of the words 'Myeon-hyeong', meaning the shape of the bread that became the Body of Christ, and 'Mu-a', meaning the complete emptying of the self to become nothing. The presence of Jesus Christ, the God of love, in the 'Myeon-hyeong' of the Eucharist is his presence not only as spiritual food for our union with Him, but also his presence that informs us that we also must follow Him and become 'Mu-a' if we want to be united with him. That is to say, the spirituality of 'Myeon-hyeong Mu-a' is emptying ourselves through the Eucharistic life and living every moment fulfilling the will of God the Father. |
